Bob Dylan attending the Mariposa Folk Festival 1972. Just as a fan, not there to perform. Photo by Sue Kawalerski.

“I don’t know how long I was there before I sensed that someone was coming up from behind. I turned my head away from the viewfinder just long enough to get a glimpse of a guy walking slowly towards me. I went back to taking pictures of ducks but in a split second it registered that the guy was Bob Dylan. Why I didn’t freak I don’t know. But I didn’t. Then, this guy, Bob Dylan, sits down on the ground next to me and asks me what I’m doing. Seemed pretty obvious to me but I told him I was taking pictures of ducks.” [x]

Jimi Hendrix, ‘69

On May 3, in Toronto. I love what he said before he started playing that night: “We want you to forget about today, about yesterday, and about tomorrow. Tonight, we’re gonna create a whole new world.”
