What Robert defines as dancing (x)

Robert, I’ve been wondering what exactly inspired you to come up with these moves? And is that a dubstep arm wave in the first gif, second row?

Y’all know I love this guy… I can vibe with the moves in GIFs 3 and 4, but help me to understand the rest of what I’m seeing here. 🤔🤔🤔

Yay, 90s Robert all over my dash. I don’t know for sure, but I’m convinced these moves are at least in part inspired by Bollywood dance. Check out this interesting piece from the BBC. https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-18686742. 😀

Blashphemy, I know, but as much as I loves my Zepperling, I prefer 90s Robert to 70s Robert. Better voice, better looks, and yes, better moves. I don’t think we even have to go as far as Bollywood. Just listening to songs like “Calling To You” and “Down To The Sea” on Fate of Nations, they sound kind of snaky and shimmying. I don’t see how Robert could have been moving any other way!

As he said at the time, “From the very beginning of this project, around January 1991, right after the Manic Nirvana tour, I knew what I was going to do: go back into my past, listening to [Moby] Grape, the [Jefferson] Airplane, Tim Hardin, Quicksilver, Traffic, and other turning-point artists in rock. These people were trying to tell the listener something, joining various traditions, with the sense of a quest being insinuated and bandied….”

…and those moves are nothing if not insinuating and bandying. LOL
